  • Experience the best of West Virginia’s natural beauty in a single, unforgettable day. Explore pristine stream side trails, marvel at cascading waterfalls, and relax in a wood-heated tipi.

  • Designed for fall, winter, and spring, this adventure showcases the best of the season’s flowing waterfalls and tranquil beauty.

  • Enjoy guided hikes, cozy fireside gatherings, and the opportunity to reconnect with nature.

  • Optionally, extend your experience with an overnight stay in the tipi or a deluxe heated cabin at Brooklyn Hights Riverfront Campground.

What We'll Do

Meet & Greet (30 mins):

  • Meet at the Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Campground at the office cabin. We'll provide a quick introduction and outline the day. Complimentary hot beverages and snacks are served to kickstart our adventure.

Guided Wilderness Hike (3 hours):

  • Explore a serene forest trail along a spectacular nearby stream valley, learning about the area's ecology and history. Walk across a cable swinging bridge, see remnants of early 19th century life, and expect scenic views and hidden gems that only a local can show you.

Waterfall Tour (2 hours):

  • Visit nearby waterfalls that few have seen, capturing the dramatic beauty of their seasonal cascades. Learn about the geology of Appalachia surrounding these stunning features.

Tipi Retreat & Fireside Gathering (2 1/2 hours):

  • Relax in our spacious 18-foot diameter tipi, warmed by a wood stove. Enjoy light snacks, warm drinks, a pizza dinner and good company. Reflect on the day while surrounded by nature.

Optional Accommodations:

  • Extend your adventure with an overnight stay in an 18-foot diameter wood-heated tipi (up to 4 guests) or one of two deluxe heated cabins (up to 11 guests combined).  Or any RV or campsite of your choosing.

Community Gathering:

  • Enjoy fireside storytelling, stargazing, and relaxation in the tipi during your stay.

What's Included & Pricing

 

What’s Included:

  • Guided hike and waterfall tour with a local enthusist guide.

  • Access to a private tipi with wood stove and chiminea heating.

  • Light refreshments: seasonal snacks, hot cocoa, coffee, and hot cider at the camp office cabin.

  • Meals: Evening pizza in the tipi from Parsons’ Mr. Pizza.

  • Complimentary hiking poles.

  • Firewood to keep the wood stove and chiminea warm and toasty.

Pricing and Optional Add-Ons:

  • Standard Package ($100 per adult): Includes guided hike, waterfall tour, tipi access, light refreshments, and evening pizza.

  • Children's Package ($50 per child 16 and under): Includes all activities and meals as per the standard package.

  • Group Size: Maximum of 12 guests. If your group is larger, contact us for accommodations.

  • Optional Add-Ons:

    • Overnight Stay in Tipi: $25 per person (up to 4 guests with provided cots and firewood).  $100 minimum.

    • Overnight Stay in Heated Cabin: $25 per person (up to 11 total in two deluxe cabins with included firewood and comfy beds as well as coffee pot, toaster oven, microwave and griddle). $100 minimum per deluxe cabin.

    • Do Your Own Thing:  and book any campsite, RV site or primitive cabin for any duration.

  • Gear: Hiking poles included; firewood provided for overnight stays.

  • You drive your vehicle(s) to nearby destinations following your guide.  Transportation is not included.

  • ​A minimum total fee of $500 is required for the adventure, which can be met through a combination of participant fees and optional add-ons.

  • Payment by credit card or by smartphone pay apps.​

Itinerary

Your One Day Adventure Plan:​

9:00 AM – Arrival and Welcome:

  • Guests arrive at Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Campground, where we’ll provide an orientation and a warm beverage (coffee, hot cider, hot chocolate) and some breakfast snacks.

9:30 AM – Guided Wilderness Hike:

  • Venture deep into the forest along serene trails, learning about local flora and fauna. Explore this spectacular Wilderness Trail along a stunning stream valley.  A short drive from camp.

12:30 PM – Snack Break at the Office Cabin:

  • We take a short drive back towards camp for a snack break.  

1:30 PM – Waterfall Exploration:

  • Visit nearby waterfalls and enjoy photo opportunities, including “four spectacular ravines” near camp.  Each ravine has a creek that forms spectacular waterfalls or follows stunning creek valleys.  Nearby caves discussed.

4:00 PM – Tipi Retreat and Fireside Gathering:

  • Relax in our spacious 18-foot tipi, warmed by a wood stove. Enjoy light snacks, warm drinks, and good company, as well as a provided pizza dinner for everyone.

6:30 PM – Departure or Optional Overnight Stay:

  • Guests may choose to conclude the day or extend their experience with an overnight stay.

Important Notes & Additional Information:

Intensity Level:

  • Moderate: This adventure involves hiking on uneven terrain and requires a moderate level of physical fitness. Suitable for ages 10+.

Host Expertise:

  • I am an experienced outdoor guide with years of exploring and sharing the beauty of West Virginia’s wilderness. Certified in first aid and CPR, I ensure a safe and engaging experience for all guests.

 

Important Notes / Additional Information:

  • Group Size: Maximum of 12 guests to maintain an intimate and personalized experience. Larger groups can be accommodated upon request.

  • Seasonal Highlights: Best enjoyed in fall, winter, and spring, when the waterfalls are at their most vibrant.

  • Weather Conditions: The itinerary is subject to weather conditions; safety is our top priority.

  • Available Days: Adventures run Thursdays through Sundays from October to April, maximizing seasonal waterfall flow.  Warm weather months can be accommodated, but no guarantee of spectacular waterfall flow with recurring summer droughts.

  • What if the weather is bad? "Safety is our top priority. In the event of severe weather, we may reschedule or adjust the itinerary to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience."

  • How strenuous is the hike? "The hike is moderate, with some uneven terrain. We recommend it for those with a reasonable level of fitness."

  • What if I have dietary restrictions? "Let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs."

  • Can I bring my pet? "Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on this adventure due to the nature of the activities." However, if you think that your pet has the endurance, let us know for an exception.

  • What’s included in the price? "Your ticket covers the guided hike, waterfall tour, late afternoon tipi retreat, and light refreshments throughout the day, including a pizza dinner."

  • Can I book a private group adventure? "Yes! Contact us for private group bookings and customized experiences."

  • Emergency contact information and procedures are provided to all guests.

  • First aid kit and communication devices are carried on all hikes.

  • A detailed safety briefing is conducted before each activity.
